GPU-Xpander Pro 2

"Add slots and watts instead of a new HPC workstation for increased GPU Compute performance!"

GPU-Xpander Pro2 allows you to convert your tower PC workstation, notebook, Apple Mac Pro or Apple MacBook Pro into a high-powered, multi GPU-enabled workstation for thousands of dollars less per seat than buying a specialized, overpriced GPGPU PC.

Use your current "slot and watt limited" PCs and blade servers - Dell, HP, IBM, white box or Apple Mac Pro -- to immediately impact the speed of high-performance computing (HPC) applications such as Life Sciences, Bio-Informatics, Electrodynamics and Electromagnetics, CAE, visualization / simulation, finance, medical imaging/CT/MRI, or dozens of others. It only takes a few minutes to super charge your PC by adding a GPU-Xpander to make scientific research, video transcoding, simulations, ray tracing, or many other heterogeneous computing applications run lightning fast!

GPU-Xpander provides an independent life support system, with its own power and cooling, dedicated to the GPUs themselves. Because GPU-Xpander is a separate add-on module, you don't tax your existing PC's cooling capability, power supply, or violate its warranty by operating it beyond its specifications. You reduce your capital expense increments (see graph below) since you add 2-4 PCI Express slots to your existing computers instead of a new tower workstation with all of the CPU, memory, storage, and operating system license.

Retrofitting existing PCs

If you are thinking about adding powerful graphics adapters to your existing computer, learn from the mistakes of others. There are a lot of uncertainties. Is there adequate power for an additional 200+ watt GPU card in your current system? How about enough power for two double-wide 250+ watt adapters? Will adding a high-powered graphics adapter overheat your workstation? Do you have enough physical space for one or two graphics cards inside your PC? With GPU-Xpander, all the questions about using an existing PC have positive answers. There is no gray area for concern. Your existing PC workstation stays as is and your worries disappear. Or, you can start fresh with a new low cost PC, add GPU-Xpander and get the same cost-saving, performance-enhancing results. Specialized oversized overpriced PCs

Buying proprietary oversized workstations to run GPU-enabled applications may put you at odds with your I.T. and Purchasing Departments. Why invite conflict? Instead, use your limited but familiar corporate-approved PC with a GPU-Xpander. This combination allows you to garner the best possible return on your PC investments from existing service contracts, familiar sourcing, and corporate standards purchasing perspectives. Supports a variety of single and multiple GPUs

GPU-Xpander supports one or two NVIDIA GPU adapters including but not limited to:

  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470/480 (Fermi )
  • GeForce GTX 285 for Mac
  • NVIDIA Quadro FX 1800, 3800, 4800, 4800 for Mac, 5800
  • Quadro DVP components
  • NVIDIA Tesla C1060
  • Upcoming Tesla c2000 Series

Installation is easy. You simply insert a GPU-Xpander PCIe adapter into your host PCI Express slot (x8 or x16 slot in a tower PC or ExpressCard 34 in a laptop/notebook), connect the cable to the GPU-Xpander, load the GPU's software driver on your PC, and you're ready to harness the power of GPU-computing! Plus, GPU-Xpander can be shared among users in the office. If the need for GPU computing is sporadic among users, place GPU-Xpander adapters in multiple workstations and move GPU-Xpander to each as needed.
