Overview
When you've run out of PCIe slots for GPU-Xpander HBA cards in your current desktop or rackmount workstations, or your legacy servers don't have any available PCI Express v2.0 slots, Cubix has a 19" rackmount workstation solution optimized for use with GPU-Xpanders; XpanderBlade. XpanderBlade is available in a variety of CPU, memory, and HDD configurations, along with several different 19" rackmount architectures for standalone and blade workstation formats. XpanderBlade also features CubixVision remote management software, an immensely useful tool for remote, "lights-out" management of both XpanderBlade workstations as well as their associated GPU-Xpander systems and NVIDIA GPUs contained therein.
XpanderPoint, base standalone unit
XpanderPoint is simply an XpanderBlade packaged in a standalone enclosure. The XpanderPoint enclosure is primarily a metal shell with an AC power connector that provides hardware to rack mount the XpanderBlade electronics in a standard 19" rack. The XpanderPoint can be mounted in a 2 or 4 post rack.
Oftentimes, integrators and OEMs use standalone, rackmount XpanderPoints as "starter systems" for project initiation. After the technology is proven for the application, then the XpanderBlade core may be migrated intact to the XpanderBlade enclosure. Thus, you can achieve continuity of technology from the smallest to the largest project. Moving the blade from the XpanderPoint enclosure to the XpanderBlade enclosure is very straightforward. You simply remove the entire core, leave the shell, and plug the core into the XpanderBlade enclosure. The XpanderPoint enclosure can then be re-used on another project. Ideal for maximizing the number of PCIe v2.0 x16 adapters as possible per Core 2 Quad, Core i7, or dual Xeon workstation. Host between 4-8 single or dual processor computers per 8U 19" rackmount system. Cluster multiple blades together via Infiniband, along with each XpanderBlade's associated GPU-Xpander I/O, for unmatched GPGPU performance per CPU core.
XpanderBlades with extremely high, space saving rack density are key components in data center centralization initiatives, as well as large render farms (CPU or GPU-based).
XpanderBlade 5U features the latest Intel® Xeon® and Core? 2 Quad processors, memory and network connectivity options. A consolidated compute platform, XpanderBlades provide high rack density, flexible configurations and serviceable connections.
Designed to optimize datacenter space, XpanderBlade 5U can each be configured with a GPU-Xpander's PCI Express HBA for large network rendering, media transcoding, or other GPU-enabled HPC applications. Alternatively, XpanderBlades can also be configured with Cubix LaserCube's fiber optic-based PCIe extension technology to deliver 3D graphics applications, CAD, video/audio streams and office applications to remote users at real time speeds over long distances.
XpanderBlade 5U can also be used as standard departmental network servers taking up less than 1U per blade rack space. XpanderBlades are compatible with all popular operating systems such as Microsoft® Windows®, Linux, Sun? Solaris? and Unix.
XpanderBlades are remotely administered through the CubixVision management system. CubixVision monitors each blade's fans, temperatures and power conditions, and allows remote power up/down and reset by authorized network administrators.
XpanderBlades are available in 4-pack or 6-pack configurations through authorized resellers. Contact Cubix Sales Department at 1-800-829-0550 (N. America), +1(775)888-1000 (International) or sales@cubix.com for more information
